Burpengary Meadows Community Market

Burpengary Meadows State School opens its car park to stallholders every Saturday morning, from 6am to 11.30am, for a community market that has become a regular fixture for the fast-growing Moreton Bay suburb since it started.

An early start built around what's fresh

The 6am start is early even by market standards, and it suits what the stalls specialise in: locally grown fruit and vegetables, barista-made coffee, handmade baked goods and pet treats, alongside food vans for a proper breakfast once the shopping is done. Being on school grounds rather than a showground or a park keeps the market small and walkable, closer in feel to a neighbourhood gathering than a destination event.

New stallholders get an incentive rarely seen at an established market: the first month of site fees is free, a sign the organisers are still actively building out the trader list rather than working from a long waiting list. Dogs on leashes are welcome, which matters for a market that draws heavily on its own immediate neighbourhood for foot traffic.
