Markets in Northern Territory

In the Northern Territory the calendar matters more than the day of the week. Mindil Beach Sunset Market, which began in Darwin Mall in 1987 before moving to the beach, runs only through the dry season, roughly late April to late October, and then stops entirely. Turning up in February gets you an empty park.

Darwin's year-round markets are the ones locals actually shop at. Parap Village on Saturday morning and Rapid Creek are Asian-influenced produce markets, known for laksa, tropical fruit and herbs you will not find in a supermarket. They reflect the city's proximity to Southeast Asia far more than they reflect anything southern Australian.

Coverage up here is genuinely sparse, with Alice Springs the only listing outside the Darwin area. If you run a market in the Territory and it is not here, it is almost certainly missing rather than excluded.
