Christmas markets in Australia. December is the month a market's usual day cannot be trusted. Which markets move a week early, which trade after dark, which get bigger and which close.

By city

Melbourne markets on a Saturday morning. Twenty-two markets trade every Saturday and another twenty-five run monthly, which is the pattern that catches people out.
Sydney markets on a weekend. Saturday is an inner west morning, Sunday belongs to the beaches, and the two sets barely overlap.
Brisbane markets start before sunrise. A 9am arrival in Brisbane is a late one. Sunday carries the week here.
Perth markets, starting in Fremantle. The best market in Western Australia is half an hour down the river, and the most enjoyable ones only run after dark in summer.
Adelaide markets, built around the Central Market. Adelaide has traded from the same hall since 1869, and the wine regions keep its farmers markets well supplied.
Hobart markets, two mornings a weekend. Salamanca on Saturday, Farm Gate on Sunday, a short walk apart and completely different.
