There are three sensible ways into the directory, depending on what you already know.

If you know where you are, start from the state pages. Each one lists every published market in that state with its suburb, trading days and what kind of market it is, so you can work down from the state to the suburb rather than guessing at names.

If you know what you want, browse by type instead. A weekly fruit and vegetable shop, somewhere to eat on a Friday evening, and a Sunday spent going through secondhand stalls are three completely different outings, and they sit in three different categories.

If you just want to know what is open, the search box on the directory takes a suburb, a postcode or a market name, and every listing shows its real trading days rather than a generic "weekends" label.

Two things worth checking before you travel

Plenty of Australian markets are monthly, not weekly. A market that runs on the fourth Sunday is closed on the other three, and that is the single most common reason people turn up to an empty car park. The trading pattern is on every listing.

Seasonality catches people out too. Darwin's dry season markets run roughly April to October. Southern twilight and evening markets tend to be a summer proposition and shut over winter. Both are noted on the individual market pages where we have confirmed the dates.
