Why we're doing this, and how we keep it accurate.
We started with a straightforward problem: search for a local market in Australia and you will mostly find a council PDF from a few years ago, a Facebook event nobody updated, or a directory that lists a market without saying whether it is actually still running. So we are building a directory of real, verified markets across Australia, and being upfront about what stage that is at.
We have compiled structured data (address, trading hours, market type) on more than 650 markets across all eight states and territories. Those get published in reviewed batches rather than all at once. More than 300 are live today, with the rest working through the queue as each batch is checked.
How a listing gets verified
Every listing starts from a real address and, where available, structured trading hours, not a guess.
Nothing publishes automatically. A person checks each listing before it goes live.
Organisers can claim their own listing and correct it directly. The most reliable source is always the market itself.
Where a market has closed for good, the page stays up with a clear notice rather than disappearing, because people still search for it by name.
What we don't do
We don't present star ratings as our own. Where you see a rating on a listing, it is attributed to Google and linked back to the source, not shown as a review we collected. We would rather show fewer markets correctly than pad the count with anything we can't stand behind.
