Bulimba Community Markets

Bulimba Community Centre began life as a Seniors Centre in 1985, and four decades of that community service later, it now hosts a monthly market on its own grounds. The market was revived for 2025 in partnership with Country To City Markets, bringing local artisans, producers and small businesses back to the centre on the second Sunday of every month.

A community centre with four decades behind it

The centre operates independently through volunteer management, and the money the market raises goes straight back into keeping its venue rentals affordable and funding the programs it runs for the local community. That volunteer backbone is part of what locals describe as the market's atmosphere: a genuinely community-run event rather than a commercial operator's stall lineup, held in the same building that's served Bulimba residents since the 1980s.

Visitors will find the market spread across the community centre's grounds at 1 Barramul St, an easy walk from Bulimba's main shopping strip and the ferry terminal. It's a low-key, neighbourhood-scale event rather than a tourist drawcard, which is exactly the point for the volunteers keeping it running.

Because the market runs monthly rather than weekly, it's worth checking the second-Sunday date against the calendar before planning a visit, particularly around long weekends. Parking around the community centre is limited, so arriving early or walking from nearby Oxford Street is the more reliable option on market Sundays.
