When is cherry in season in Australia?
No Australian state is harvesting cherry in September.
A genuinely short season. Six to eight weeks in any one district, which is why cherries are the classic thing to buy at a market rather than plan around.
Season by region
- the temperate south eastNovember to January
- the cool southDecember to February
- the mediterranean south westNovember to December
These are harvest months, not supermarket availability. Cold storage and imports stretch what is on a shelf; they do not stretch what a grower can bring to a market stall.
Where to buy cherry
Out of season locally, so a farmers market will not have it. Worth checking what is in season instead.
