Manning Road Farmers Market

Eighty-plus stalls every Saturday morning at Hedley Park, the new home of a Perth market that has traded since 2009.

About this market

Perth's Farmers Market on Manning had been trading since 2009 when it moved down the road and reopened at Hedley Park in Bentley on Saturday 5 October 2024. Under its new name it now runs every Saturday from 7.15am to noon, with more than eighty stalls of farm-direct produce, artisan goods and street food.

A weekly market at genuine scale

Eighty stalls every week is a different proposition from eighty stalls once a month. It means the produce side is a real shop rather than a browse, and that the market can carry both the growers and the prepared-food traders without either crowding the other out. The street food end runs from coffee and bratwurst through French pastries and dumplings, and there is live local music every week rather than on feature days. Containers for Change operates on site, so the empties you bring go straight back into the scheme rather than into a bin.

7.15Doors open

The 7.15am start is the detail that shapes the morning. It is early even by farmers-market standards, and it produces a genuine first hour of serious shoppers before the breakfast crowd arrives, which is when the best of the produce moves. By nine the market has changed character into something closer to a Saturday morning out, with the music going and the coffee queue at its longest. Dogs are welcome throughout, and free parking on site means the market absorbs a much wider catchment than the immediate suburbs.

Did you know?

The market did not start at Hedley Park. It ran as the Farmers Market on Manning from 2009 and reopened at its Bentley site on Saturday 5 October 2024, taking the Manning Road name with it rather than starting over as a new market.

Good to know before you go

Every Saturday, 7.15am to noon, at the corner of Manning Road in Bentley. Come before nine if produce is the point of the trip and after nine if breakfast is. Bring your own bags, bring your cans and bottles for Containers for Change, and bring cash as well as a card because stallholders take payment individually. Free parking is on site, but the lot fills through the middle of the morning, so the early start pays twice. Dogs on leads are fine. The market runs in all but genuinely severe weather, since a weekly market cannot afford to skip a Saturday. This is Whadjuk Noongar country.
