Dubbo Farmers Market

Twice a month rather than once is the useful thing about Dubbo's farmers market. A monthly market asks you to remember a date; a first and third Saturday rhythm means that if you miss one, you are only a fortnight from the next. In a region where the growers are spread across a lot of country, that cadence is a fair compromise between them and the people shopping.

Produce, meat, bread, and breakfast

The stall list is what a working farmers market should be: fresh produce, local meats and bread from around the Orana region, with coffee and breakfast running alongside. Victoria Park gives it room and shade, and four hours is enough for a market that people treat as a grocery run first and a morning out second.

Twenty-two markets a year is a real commitment for a volunteer-run regional market, and it is the reason this one has the standing it does in Dubbo.

Good to know before you go

Noon is a hard finish and the produce goes well before it, so aim for the first hour rather than the last. Bring bags, boxes and cash. Victoria Park is close enough to the centre of Dubbo to walk from most of town, and there is parking around it. Dubbo is a natural overnight stop on the way further west, and if your timing lands on a first or third Saturday the market is a much better breakfast than the highway alternatives.
