When is apple in season in Australia?
No Australian state is harvesting apple in September.
Apples store well, so they are sold long after harvest. At a farmers market in autumn you are buying them within weeks of picking, which is a different piece of fruit.
Season by region
- the temperate south eastFebruary to May
- the cool southMarch to June
- the mediterranean south westFebruary to June
- the subtropicsFebruary to May
These are harvest months, not supermarket availability. Cold storage and imports stretch what is on a shelf; they do not stretch what a grower can bring to a market stall.
Where to buy apple
Out of season locally, so a farmers market will not have it. Worth checking what is in season instead.
