Adelaide Hills Farmers Markets

Adelaide Hills Farmers Market was set up in 2010 to give local growers a direct line to shoppers, cutting out the usual wholesale distributor step between farm and customer. It trades every Saturday morning under the elms on Mann Street in Mount Barker, a format the organisers have kept consistent since it began.

Producers only, direct from the paddock

Unlike a general market where anyone can book a stall, Adelaide Hills Farmers Market restricts selling to genuine farmers and value-adders, meaning every stallholder is either growing or making what they sell. The range spans fruit and vegetables, bread and baked goods, eggs, honey, olive oil, meat, fish and smallgoods, all sourced from the surrounding Adelaide Hills region.

Beyond the weekly Saturday market, the organisers also run a monthly Artisan Market on the first Saturday and a Sustainable Living Market on the third Saturday, layering two smaller, themed events over the regular producers' market roughly twice a month.

Good to know before you go

Come early for the widest choice of fresh produce, since the market runs a fixed four-hour window and popular stalls sell out before midday. If timing a visit around a themed event, note the Artisan Market falls on the first Saturday of the month and the Sustainable Living Market on the third, both layered over the usual weekly market.
