E Shed Markets

E Shed Markets trades inside a genuinely well-travelled building. The timber shed was originally built in 1929 further along Fremantle's Victoria Quay, part of the working harbour infrastructure. In 1995, it was physically relocated to vacant land behind B and C sheds and rotated 180 degrees in the process, a roughly A$6 million project that also converted it into the market it is today.

The only waterfront market in the state

That harbour setting is the market's defining feature: a licensed alfresco terrace looks directly over Fremantle's working port, something no other market in Western Australia can offer. More than 80 stalls trade inside, covering didgeridoos, furniture, local arts and crafts, fashion, jewellery, gems and opals, gifts and souvenirs.

Being one of several named sheds along the same stretch of quay (alongside the likes of J Shed), E Shed's own history as a relocated, rotated structure is unusual even by the standards of a working harbour that's constantly repurposed its own infrastructure.

Good to know before you go

The alfresco terrace makes this a genuinely pleasant spot to combine a market browse with a harbourside drink or meal, so it's worth budgeting more time than a typical quick market visit. Trading Friday through Sunday gives more flexibility than most Fremantle markets that run weekends only.
