Warrandyte Riverside Market

A riverside community market on the Yarra that has been running since 1985 and fills close to 180 stall sites each month.

About this market

Warrandyte Riverside Market has been trading on the banks of the Yarra River since 1985. It sets up in Stiggants Reserve on the first Saturday of each month, and Manningham Life described it in 2025 as the largest community market in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. That report put its licensed capacity at 184 stalls and its crowd at around 5,500 visitors a month.

Six local groups behind one riverside market

The market is managed by a committee for the wider Warrandyte community. Its six partner organisations are the Rotary Club of Warrandyte Donvale, the Lions Club of Warrandyte, the Warrandyte Community Association, Warrandyte Community Church, North Warrandyte CFA and Donvale Bowls Club. Net proceeds go back into the area through sponsorships and grants. Market manager Rob Edwards told Manningham Life that the market has the unique ability to bring the whole community together, working collaboratively and consolidating friendships.

There is room for a maximum of 180 sites, and the market's own site says most months present the full number of stallholders. Expect fresh fruit and vegetables, jams, cheese, breads and pastries next to handcrafted goods such as soaps, scarves and jewellery, with live music along the river.

Before you go: parking, buses and dogs

Trading hours are 8am to 1pm. The market runs 12 times a year: the first Saturday of every month except January, plus a Christmas market on the third Saturday of December.

Plan your trip around parking. There is no general public parking in the public car park during a market, although disabled parking and pick-up and drop-off areas are provided. Four PTV bus routes serve the market. Warrandyte is 24 km north-east of the Melbourne CBD, in the City of Manningham.

Did you know?

Even with close to 180 stalls trading each month, hundreds of would-be stallholders are on the waiting list.

Dogs are welcome on site, and the market asks visitors to follow the precautions on its risk sign. For news about the next market, check its Facebook and Instagram pages before you leave home.
