Meeniyan Midweek Market

Meeniyan Square, the redeveloped public space at the centre of this small South Gippsland town, hosts a midweek market on the third Thursday of every month from 10am to 2pm, its second regular stallholder market alongside the better-known Sunday farmers market.

One square, several different markets

The stallholders lean toward what a Thursday shopper is likely to want: organic home-grown produce, homemade soaps, arts and the kind of small treasures a stallholder brings when they run their own table rather than a full craft-market pitch. Being midweek rather than a weekend fixture makes it a different kind of market again from Meeniyan's Sunday Farmers Market, timed for locals and passers-through rather than a weekend day trip.

Meeniyan Square is a working precinct rather than just an event ground: it has permanent tenants including a deli and cafe, a winemaker and a wood-fired pizzeria, so a Thursday market visit can turn into lunch without leaving the square. That mix of permanent business and rotating market days is what lets one small-town square support three separate stallholder markets across a single month without any of them competing for the same date.
