Piccadilly Market

Janina started Piccadilly Market in 2010 after years of visiting markets on her travels through Hong Kong, London, New York and beyond, and she still runs it herself. What began as a single artisan market has grown into three distinct sessions around Geelong, each with its own character rather than one market simply changing address.

One market, three venues

The main event is at Deakin University's Geelong Waterfront Campus, where more than 90 stallholders set up mostly indoors with food vendors working an outdoor courtyard, free to enter. A separate evening session runs at Geelong Racing Club, a ticketed $5 market for adults with live music built around dining rather than daytime browsing. The third and smallest is a family-friendly, pet-friendly Saturday session at Mirambeena Park in Armstrong Creek, around 35 local makers, aimed squarely at locals rather than a day-trip crowd.

Deakin's Waterfront Campus, right on Corio Bay, is where the market began and it's still described by the organiser as the market's original home. Being mostly indoors is a genuine advantage in Geelong, where a wet or windy Sunday can otherwise write off an outdoor market entirely; stallholders here trade rain or shine.

Good to know before you go

Because this market moves between three sites rather than trading from a fixed address, always check the organiser's own site for the next date and venue before you head out, rather than assuming a Sunday means Deakin Waterfront. The Waterfront Campus sits on Gheringhap Street on Corio Bay, an easy walk from central Geelong; the Racing Club and Armstrong Creek sessions are a short drive out. Bring cash as a backup for the smaller stalls, and remember the Racing Club evening market is an adults-only ticketed event, unlike the two free daytime sessions. This is Wadawurrung country.
