Geelong Waterfront Makers and Growers Market

The market on the Geelong waterfront is a Rotary project rather than a commercial operation. The Geelong Waterfront Makers and Growers Market runs the first Sunday of every month in Steampacket Gardens, on the Corio Bay foreshore off Eastern Beach Road, and the money it raises goes into the projects of the Rotary Club of Geelong Central.

Produce, makers and a bay view

Steampacket Gardens is the stretch of lawn on the Geelong waterfront itself, so the market sets up with Corio Bay on one side and the city on the other. The stall mix is split between growers and makers, as the name says: local produce, gourmet goods including jams, biscuits, breads, wines and cheeses, fresh flowers, and art and handcraft from regional makers. In Town Geelong counts it in dozens of stalls, and adds entertainment and children's activities to the description. Hot food and live local music run alongside, and the children's activities have included jumping castles and face painting on the grass. Entry is free. Confirmed 2026 dates include 1 March, 5 April, 3 May and 7 June, all first Sundays, and the market carries on through the year on the same schedule.

Aim for mid-morning. Listings split between a 9.30am and a 10am start, so the trading hours panel on this page carries no day grid rather than guessing, and the safe move is to arrive after ten and before the 2pm winter close. Steampacket Gardens is on Eastern Beach Road, a short walk from central Geelong and from the Cunningham Pier car parks, and the Eastern Beach pool, the carousel and the bollards walk are all right there if the market itself takes half an hour.
