Peachester Mountain Market

A second-Saturday artisan market in the school grounds at Peachester, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

About this market

Peachester Mountain Market is held on the second Saturday of the month in the grounds of Peachester State School, at 966 Peachester Road. Its Facebook page describes a local community market showcasing the finest artisans of local produce and creative works from the hinterland and coastal areas of the Sunshine Coast.

Artisan food and creative work

Listings describe organic pork and lamb, artisan sourdough and pastries, ceramics, jewellery and gluten-free baked goods, with the occasional tango performance or massage stall. The tourism guide says the market celebrates the region's talented artisans and creatives, with local produce and gift ideas.

Opening hours differ between sources. The market's own Facebook page says 8am to noon, while the Visit Sunshine Coast guide says 8am to 1pm, so plan to arrive in the morning and treat noon as the safe finish.

Before you go

Peachester is a rural locality in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and had a population of 1,460 at the 2021 census. The Kilcoy to Beerwah Road runs through it from west to east.

The town was surveyed in 1888 by William Embury Hill and named for a peach tree growing at the Stanley River crossing. A public hall was built in 1889, and the Peachester Provisional School opened in the hall in 1892. Early industries included dairying and timber felling for Grigor's sawmill. St Andrew's Anglican church was dedicated on 1 January 1908 and was destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Annie in 1963, and it was not rebuilt. A separate market, the Peachester Village Markets hosted by the local QCWA branch at the Community Hall, runs on selected dates, so check which one you are heading to.
