Kiama Seaside Markets

Kiama Seaside Markets run on Black Beach on the third Sunday of every month, and one measure of how long that has been going is a stallholder named Maureen, recognised by the organisers for 35 years with the market. The Kiama Business Network runs it, and the six-hour trading window, 9am to 3pm, is unusually generous for a monthly coastal market.

Grass, water and a station at the end of the street

The setting does a lot of the work here. Black Beach is the sheltered harbour-side beach right beside Kiama's town centre, so the market sits on grass with the water on one side and the shops on the other. Kiama railway station is a short walk away, which turns the market into a genuine train day trip from Sydney or Wollongong rather than something that needs a car and a parking plan.

The stall list is deliberately local: arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery, collectables and produce, all sourced or created in the region. Food is the one category that is currently closed, with the Business Network not accepting new applications for food stalls or food trucks, which pushes lunch back towards Kiama's own cafes and pubs a block away.

The third-Sunday rule is not quite the whole calendar either. Public holiday dates get added on top, and in 2026 that produces two October markets, on the 5th and the 18th, alongside the usual single dates in August, September, November and December. The published date list is the thing to check rather than counting Sundays.

Good to know before you go

Some public holidays get their own market date on top of the usual third Sunday, so a long weekend visit may find one running when you did not expect it. The 3pm finish gives more room than most monthly markets, but the beachfront position means wind off the harbour can make a mid-morning visit more comfortable than a late one. Combining it with the Kiama Blowhole, a few minutes' walk away, is the standard local plan for a reason.
