Mosman Market
A curated artisan market across Mosman Square and the Village Green on the first Saturday, seven hours long, with no January edition.
About this market
Seven hours is a long time for a monthly market, and Mosman uses all of it. The first Saturday of the month, Mosman Square and the Village Green at Spit Junction fill with a deliberately curated line-up of artisans, designers and makers, and the market runs from eight in the morning until three in the afternoon.
Curated, and it shows
This is not a market where anyone with a table can turn up. Stalls are selected, and the result leans towards jewellery, textiles, ceramics, homewares, fashion and skincare, with food vendors and specialty retailers filling in around them. It is an all-weather market, so a wet first Saturday does not cancel it. What you will not find much of is fresh produce, which is the trade-off of a curated maker market.
Market at a glance
Mosman Council run it themselves rather than leasing it to an operator, which is why the dates are published a year ahead and why the stall mix stays consistent from month to month.
January is the one month with no market. Everything else runs to the first Saturday, February through December, and then the calendar gains a few evening editions on top: a SpringFeast night market in October and a Christmas Night Market in December, both running late afternoon to about 9pm. Those are additional dates, not replacements, so December has both a Saturday market and a night market.
Good to know before you go
Spit Junction is well served by buses along Military Road and there is parking around Mosman Square, though it fills by mid morning on a market Saturday. A seven hour market means there is no need to be early unless you want the pick of a particular maker's stock, and the middle of the day is when the square is fullest. Bring a bag and cash, though a curated market like this one is close to universally card-ready. If you are coming for the night markets instead, note that they run to a different clock entirely.
