Quercus Flea Market

Quercus Beechworth, a community organisation housed in a heritage church building on the corner of Ford and Church Street, opens its grounds to a flea market on the first Saturday of the month, October to May, with no bookings and no allocated sites for stallholders.

Run by the same volunteers who run the bookshop

The market runs on the same volunteer model as the rest of Quercus Beechworth's operations: no allocated sites, no booking system, just stallholders turning up and setting out their tables, with a volunteer coordinator collecting a $20 site fee per table on the day. That informality is only possible because Quercus already has the infrastructure, the grounds and the people, since it operates seven days a week as a community hub in the same heritage building.

Quercus Beechworth runs on more than 90 volunteers and averages over 600 visitors a week across all of its activities, of which the flea market is only one. The same grounds host a community bookshop stocked entirely from donated books, meaning a flea market visit sits inside a much bigger, ongoing community operation rather than a stand-alone monthly event bolted onto a heritage building.

First Saturday of the month, October to May, at Quercus Beechworth, corner of Ford and Church Street. There's no market in June, July, August or September. Because there's no booking system, stallholder tables fill on a first-come basis, and the Beechworth Farmers' Market runs the same morning a short walk along Ford Street, so many visitors treat the two as one outing.
