Belgrave Big Dreams Market began around 2013, started by Dee and Lee Appleton after years of attending other markets as stallholders and never quite finding one with the atmosphere they wanted. Held on the grounds of St Thomas More Primary School on Reynolds Lane in Belgrave, it has grown into what locals in the Dandenong Ranges now treat as a monthly fixture.

A market that grows with the seasons

The site itself expands and contracts through the year, spreading across three levels of the school grounds in summer when crowds and stallholder numbers peak, and pulling back in cooler months. Stalls focus on handmade, sustainable and locally sourced goods, from artisan crafts and jewellery to gourmet food and fresh produce, rather than imported bric-a-brac.

Dogs are welcome on a lead and the market runs rain or shine, which matters in the Dandenong Ranges where weather can turn quickly. That all-weather commitment, plus the school setting, gives it a distinctly local, community-hall feel rather than a slick commercial market.
