The Beaches Market @Palmy

Governor Phillip Park at the northern tip of Palm Beach has hosted a market since 2008, and it's now run as The Beaches Market @Palmy, part of the same group behind the original Beaches Market at Warriewood and the Lane Cove Makers Market. It sets up once a month, on the fourth Sunday, in one of Sydney's most scenic market settings, with water on multiple sides of the peninsula.

A market at the end of the peninsula

Non-food stalls cover homewares, fashion, jewellery, fresh baked goods and local honey, while the food side leans international, with gozleme and dumplings sitting alongside classic fish and chips and coffee. Stallholders pay $120 for a 3m by 3m non-food space or $140 for a hot food stall, while nonprofit organisations are given a spot for free, a detail that keeps community groups part of the mix alongside commercial traders.

Free stall space for nonprofits is a small detail, but it's a genuine point of difference from most commercial market operators, who typically charge every stallholder the same rate regardless of purpose.

The market runs only once a month, on the fourth Sunday, so check the date before planning a visit. Dogs on leashes are welcome, and given the park's position at the end of the peninsula, it's an easy pairing with a walk along Palm Beach itself.
