Moama Market

Moama grew up as a cattle market town in the mid-1850s, supplying meat to the goldfields across the border in Victoria during the height of the gold rush, after James Maiden founded a settlement here to take advantage of the traffic heading toward Melbourne's meat and wool markets. That trading heritage lives on in a different form at today's Moama Market, held at the town's Kerrabee Soundshell on selected Sundays through the year.

Over 120 stalls on the Murray

Rather than a fixed weekly slot, Moama Market runs on a rotating calendar of Sunday dates, with organisers confirming each one individually rather than committing to every week. When it's on, it draws more than 120 stallholders selling clothing, secondhand goods, arts and crafts, and food and wine, backed by live music and a hot food and coffee lineup.

The Kerrabee Soundshell setting, an open-air riverside venue used for concerts and community events the rest of the year, gives the market room for its scale and live music without spilling into surrounding streets, a layout that suits a market well over 100 stalls.
