About this market
Bulli Showground has hosted Foragers Market since around 2014, when founder Kirrily Sinclair set out to showcase the Illawarra's artisan food producers under one roof. What started as a weekly market moved to a monthly, second-Sunday schedule from April 2019, a change Sinclair put down to shifting shopping habits rather than falling demand.
A once-a-month market built to be worth the wait
Going from weekly to monthly was contested at the time. Stallholders including Great Southern Mead & Honey said the change was made "against all the stallholders' wishes," but the market has run on that cadence ever since, trading off frequency for scale: more than 90 stallholders now set up on market Sundays, well beyond what a weekly roadside stop could sustain.

The range on offer reflects the market's dual focus on food and craft: fresh produce and street food sit alongside cheese, olives, salami and gluten-free bakers, with wine and gin tastings for a slower browse. The second Sunday of the month also brings out giftware, homewares, vintage and fashion stalls, plus live music, meaning a visit can run well past a quick produce run.
Foragers Market gave up its original weekly slot in April 2019, a decision founder Kirrily Sinclair made against the wishes of some long-running stallholders. The trade-off has held: the market now draws over 90 stalls on its once-a-month Sunday, more than it ever carried weekly.
Bulli is what remains of a bigger Illawarra footprint. Sinclair's Foragers Group once also ran Wollongong CBD's Friday produce market, which she had taken over in 2016, plus a Thursday night Eat Street food market, but lost the CBD tender to Sydney-based Blue Sky Markets in December 2021. The Bulli market kept running under Foragers throughout, making it the group's longest-standing market rather than a new venture.
