Bondi Markets

Bondi Markets has run every Sunday since 1993 in the grounds of Bondi Beach Public School, right on Campbell Parade a short walk from the sand. The school itself long predates the market, established in 1883, decades before Bondi Beach was even opened to the public in 1882 for the first surf bathers.

A school playground turned Sunday institution

Trading inside a working school's grounds gives Bondi Markets a genuinely different footprint to most beachside markets, an established, shaded site rather than an improvised street closure. More than three decades of Sundays have built it into a fixture for original designer clothing, exotic imports, handmade jewellery and vintage furniture, alongside a food line-up reviewers describe as covering Colombian, French, Spanish, Indian and Vietnamese stalls within the one small footprint.

The location does most of the marketing itself: reviewers repeatedly note how easy it is to fold a market visit into a wider Bondi Beach outing, with the sand, promenade and Bondi's famous cafe strip all within a couple of minutes' walk.

Good to know before you go

It runs a tighter window than some Sydney markets, 10am to 4pm only, so it's worth timing a visit around that rather than assuming an all-day event. Combining it with a beach walk or coffee on Campbell Parade makes the most of the location.
