Stanley Harvest Markets

Stanley was settled in 1826 as the headquarters of the Van Diemen's Land Company, granted 250,000 acres by royal charter, and the small fishing village it grew into still sits in the shadow of The Nut, a 143-metre volcanic plug first sighted by explorers Bass and Flinders in 1798. Stanley Harvest Markets sets up on the second Sunday of the month at 36 Hale Street in that same village. Doors open at 9.30am for a morning of local producers, makers and live music, with a scheduled break over winter.

A producers' market for the Tarkine coast

The market's own description keeps it simple: quality producers and makers, live music, and food, drawn from the wider Stanley and Tarkine region of North West Tasmania. It's a genuinely local affair, run by and for the small community that also stages the town's other seasonal events, rather than a touring market brand passing through.

Stanley's other big drawcard, the Tarkine's annual Forage Festival, has occasionally paired with the market for a special twilight edition, "Stanley Harvest Twilight," a one-off variation on the usual Sunday-morning format rather than a regular fixture.
