About this market
Market Square Pavilion was built as part of the first stage of Devonport's Living City redevelopment, the $71 million paranaple centre project completed in 2018 that also delivered the arts centre, library, council offices and convention centre. The pavilion was designed as a food and market hall showcasing north-west Tasmanian produce, and it now anchors the monthly twilight market held in and around Market Square.
An undercover market hall in the middle of town
The twilight market runs once a month on a Friday evening from 4pm to 8pm and splits neatly in two. Inside the heated pavilion sit more than 35 stalls of local makers, gifts and craft. Outside in Market Square, a rotating line-up of around 13 street food vendors takes over, with live music running across the evening. Entry is free, and the crowd is a mix of after-work shoppers, families and people who came for dinner.
