Bric-a-brac to honey, on the seafront

The stall list is deliberately unrestricted, running from bric-a-brac and fashion through tools, beauty products, jewellery, honey, candles and soaps, with hot food and coffee keeping people on site. That breadth is what a general market on a tourist seafront needs: the crowd is a mix of holidaymakers browsing and locals shopping, and a narrow stall list would serve neither. A six hour window is long by market standards and the Esplanade position means people drift in across the whole of it rather than arriving in a rush at opening.

Victor Harbor carries more than one market and they are easily confused. This is the general market on the seafront; the farmers market is a separate produce market on Torrens Street. The January pattern is the other thing to get right: rather than the usual fortnight, the market runs on most Sundays through the month, dropping only the last one, which is a direct response to the holiday population rather than a permanent change of schedule.

Second and fourth Sunday, 9am to 3pm, with most Sundays running through January and a 4pm close in summer. Bring cash and bags, since a bric-a-brac heavy market always has sellers who take nothing else. The Esplanade has parking along it and through the surrounding streets, but Victor Harbor over the summer holidays is genuinely busy, so early is easier.
