Bowerbird Design Market

Bowerbird bills itself as Adelaide's premier design market, and the format backs it: around sixty curated designers in the Ridley Centre at the Adelaide Showground, across three days rather than a morning. Entry is $5 at the door or online, children twelve and under are free, and Companion Card holders enter free.

Sixty designers, curated rather than booked

The categories run to accessories, skincare, stationery, clothing, art, homewares, jewellery, children's toys and pantry goods, and the making behind them spans glass blowing, clay throwing and silversmithing through to fashion and sweet treats. Curated is the operative word: this is a selected roster of Australian designers, makers and producers rather than an open stallholder list, which is what separates a design market from a craft market. Alongside the stalls, the event runs daily fashion parades and an art wall of 30 by 30 centimetre works from more than sixty South Australian artists, plus artisan food and craft beverages through the hall.

The Friday evening plus full weekend shape gives the event two different sessions: a late Friday opening and two full days after it. Categories run across accessories, skincare, stationery, clothing, art, homewares, jewellery, children's toys and pantry goods, so a designer travelling in has a broad enough audience to make the trip worth it, and a visitor has enough ground to cover that a single hour would not do it.

Check the dates first, because this is an event rather than a standing market: the 2026 edition runs 15 to 17 May, Friday 4pm to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm. Bring a card. The Adelaide Showground at Wayville is on the tram line and has its own parking, both of which make a three-day event manageable. Friday evening is the quieter session if you want to talk to the makers; the weekend days are when the fashion parades run. This is Kaurna country.
