Harris Farm Markets Isle of Capri

Harris Farm Markets has been a family-run Australian grocer since 1971, and by the time it opened its Isle of Capri store on Via Roma in November 2021, it had already been away from Queensland for three decades. The Gold Coast store marked the chain's return to the state a year after reopening its first Queensland site at Clayfield in 2020, on the same site it had owned 30 years earlier.

A flagship built on local growers

The Isle of Capri opening created jobs for more than 300 locals and stocked produce sourced from over 320 Queensland growers, a scale that positioned it as Harris Farm's flagship Gold Coast location rather than a standard suburban branch. It trades daily from 6am to 9pm, with underground parking on site, which keeps it closer to a full-time grocery destination than a weekly market.

The family connection runs deep: the business is still run by Tristan Harris and his two brothers, the sons of founders David and Cathy Harris, more than fifty years after the first store opened.

Good to know before you go

Because the store trades daily rather than on set market days, there's no need to plan a special trip, though the fresh produce sections are best visited earlier in the day before staff begin packing them up ahead of closing. Underground parking makes it an easy stop if you're driving in from elsewhere on the Gold Coast.
